An extended-hours service of Commonwealth Orthopaedic Associates, at our Exeter office
6:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m. Monday–Friday,
10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
Sometimes the emergency room is more than a patient needs, especially for an injury such as a minor
sprain or strain, a closed fracture, or a simple laceration. Yet, sometimes injuries occur when the family
doctor’s office isn’t open. That’s when a medical team that specializes in treating muscle and skeletal
problems may be quicker than the hospital emergency room, and fully sufficient for managing the injury.
The Orthopaedic Urgent Care Center, at COA’s Exeter office, is supported by the premier team of
orthopaedic experts in the area. X-ray is available onsite, to shorten the wait for results. Casts can
be applied and local anesthetics can be administered. An orthopaedic surgeon is on call at all times.
Depending on when an injury happens, and how serious it is, the hospital emergency room may be the wise
and only choice. Conditions that should
not be brought to the Orthopaedic Urgent Care Center include head injuries, compound/open fractures,
chronic or longstanding conditions, and injuries that may involve workers'
compensation. For minor orthopaedic injuries, however, especially after normal office hours, please keep the
Orthopaedic Urgent Care Center in mind.
The Center honors the very same insurance
plans as our regular-hours practice. As usual, HMOs require a referral from the primary-care
physician.
